Valorant’s Patch 5.01 Enhances Phoenix Abilities and Yoru Ultimate, Strengthens Smurf Detection in NA Region

VALORANT Patch 5.01: Buffs for Phoenix, Yoru’s Ultimate Duration Increases

VALORANT Patch 5.01 is here with exciting enhancements for the game. One of the most anticipated changes is the buffs to Phoenix, a dynamic character who has seen a decline in popularity among competitive and pro players. His flash ability, Curveball, now lasts longer and has a quicker activation time. Moreover, Phoenix now equips his weapon faster after using his Blaze wall and respawns with the same amount of shields during his ultimate ability, Run It Back.

Updates for Yoru and KAY/O

Yoru and KAY/O have also received some notable updates. Yoru’s ultimate ability, Dimensional Drift, now lasts for 12 seconds instead of the previous 10, and the equip time has been shortened. KAY/O’s FRAG/ment grenade radius has been reduced, but now it can inflict damage without requiring direct line of sight. Additionally, only allies will hear the full audio of KAY/O being revived while his ultimate is active.

New Smurf Detection System in North America

In North America, a new smurf detection system has been implemented, which aims to match new players with opponents of the appropriate skill level more quickly. This change will be tested in North America before potentially being implemented globally in all regions.

The 5.01 update also includes improvements in collision behavior when near other players, as well as fixes for performance and agent bugs. The release date for Patch 5.01 has not been announced yet.
