Acend and Gambit Make VALORANT History with Record-Breaking Peak Viewership in VCT Champions Grand Finals

Acend Sets New Viewership Record for VALORANT with VCT Champions Win

Acend’s victory in the grand finals of VCT Champions not only secured their place as champions but also broke the peak viewership record for all of VALORANT. According to Esports Charts, the grand finals achieved a peak viewership of 1,089,068 across all languages and platforms. This surpasses the previous record of 1,060,257 set by the KRU vs. Gambit semifinals and narrowly beats the 1,085,850 peak viewership of the Masters Reykjavík grand finals between Sentinels and Fnatic.

Impressive Record Despite the Absence of North American Teams

The new viewership record set during the Champions finals is especially remarkable considering that all North American teams had been eliminated before the final match. Only teams from the EMEA region were still competing on Sunday. It’s worth noting that North American VCT events have consistently had the highest peak viewership throughout 2021 compared to other regional tournaments.

Future Plans for VALORANT Champions Tour

Acend’s victory over Gambit marks the end of the inaugural year of the VALORANT Champions Tour. However, there are exciting plans in store for 2022. Riot has officially announced the return of VCT, which will feature a new format for Challengers events, an offseason series, country-based leagues, and more Game Changers events. The action will kick off in February 2022 with the first qualifiers for the regional Challengers events.
