NRG outshine North, secure spot in the StarSeries grand finals

NRG Advances to i-League StarSeries Season Five Grand Finals

NRG has become the first team to secure a spot in the grand finals of the i-League StarSeries Season Five. The North American squad pulled off a major upset by defeating the struggling North roster in a three-map series. Despite predictions favoring North, NRG’s victory over Team Liquid in the quarterfinals and now North has solidified their position as serious contenders in the tournament.

Complete Control on Overpass

Just like their previous match against Team Liquid, NRG dominated the first map against North. They were relentless on Overpass, shutting down any defensive attempts by the Danes. North struggled to put together consecutive rounds and ultimately lost the map with a score of 16-5 in favor of NRG.

North’s Fightback on Mirage

Although things initially looked dire for North on the second map, Mirage, they managed to turn the tables in the first half. They strung together six rounds and took the lead for the first time in the series. However, NRG stayed close behind and ended the first half with a slim one-round advantage.

Inferno: The Deciding Map

The fate of the series rested on Inferno, where both teams battled fiercely for supremacy. Rounds were consistently traded until NRG took the lead by three rounds in the latter part of the first half. Once NRG switched to the T-side, they gained momentum and quickly pulled further ahead.

A Second Pistol Round Victory Seals the Deal

NRG’s victory in the second pistol round proved to be a turning point in the match. They continued to dominate and each round won by North came at a high cost. Despite the impressive efforts of North’s newcomer, Daniel Mertz, NRG halted their progress and secured their spot in the international LAN final.

The second semifinal match between mousesports and Na’Vi is set to begin at 8am CT.
