Acend Advance to VALORANT Champions Playoffs with 2-0 Victory Over Envy
Acend has secured their spot in the VALORANT Champions playoffs after a dominant 2-0 win against Envy. European teams are dominating the tournament and have secured the top four seeds. Other regions are now competing for the second seed in each group.
Acend faced Vivo Keyd and X10 CRIT in the first round of Group A matches. However, their first match against Vivo Keyd was chaotic. Vivo Keyd used an exploit that initially led to them forfeiting enough rounds to give Acend the win. But a second ruling changed the score to 12-10 and the teams had to replay the map. Acend eventually emerged victorious and moved on to the winners match.
Today’s series began on Envy’s map pick, Ascent. Acend started strong, winning the first four rounds and setting the pace for the game. Zeek’s impressive 4K in round four showcased Acend’s dominance. Envy managed to bounce back and won three rounds, but Acend went on another four-round winning streak. Envy won the final round of the first half, but Acend maintained their lead.
The second half started with Acend winning two rounds, but Envy made a comeback by successfully retaking and defusing the Spike in rounds 15 and 16. Yay’s clutch play in round 16 sealed the victory for Envy. However, Envy struggled to secure additional rounds, and Acend closed out the game with a 13-8 scoreline.
The second map on Bind was a closer matchup. The teams traded wins in the first three rounds, with Envy winning the pistol round. Acend then went on a five-round winning streak, only stopping when yay killed four players with his trusty Operator. Acend finished the first half with nine round wins and won the second pistol round. Envy then mounted a comeback and won seven consecutive rounds to bring the score to 10-10. However, Acend prevailed by successfully defusing the Spike in crucial rounds and ultimately won the series.
Acend’s victory secures their spot in the VALORANT Champions playoffs alongside Gambit, Fnatic, and Team Liquid. Envy will face the winner of X10 CRIT vs. Vivo Keyd in the Group A decider match.
