Revamped Cyberware System in Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0
The Cyberware system in Cyberpunk 2077 underwent significant changes in Update 2.0, which was released before the game’s first major expansion, Phantom Liberty. To help players understand the new system, the developers included a quest that explains the changes when they load their character for the first time.
New Feature: Cyberware Capacity
A major addition to the new Cyberware system is the concept of Cyberware capacity. This metric represents the amount of Cyberware that V, the player character, has equipped and the maximum amount they can handle. For players who want to fully outfit V with Cyberware, it is important to know how to increase their Cyberware capacity in Cyberpunk 2077.
Ways to Increase Cyberware Capacity
There are several methods to increase your Cyberware capacity in Cyberpunk 2077:
- Acquire perks that increase Cyberware capacity
- Increase the Engineer skill
- Find Cyberware capacity shards
- Level up
Acquire Perks that Increase Cyberware Capacity
Two perks that increase Cyberware capacity can be obtained from the Technical Ability tree: Edgerunner and Renaissance Punk.
Renaissance Punk adds +4 to Cyberware capacity for each attribute that is at a level of nine or higher. To unlock this perk, players must have at least a nine in Technical Ability. This perk benefits well-balanced characters the most.
Edgerunner is an active ability perk that can be obtained by completing the central path of the Technical Ability perks tree. This perk grants an additional 50 Cyberware Capacity points at the cost of -0.5% Max Health per point. It also provides a 0.1% chance of activating Fury for 12 seconds, increasing damage, Crit Chance, and Crit Damage.
Increase the Engineer Skill
Aside from perks and attributes, the Engineer skill can also be increased to boost Cyberware capacity. At level 10, the Engineer skill increases Cyberware capacity by five, and at level 30, it increases by 10.
Players can upgrade their Engineer skill by performing the following actions:
- Disabling cameras and turrets
- Using grenades
- Using tech weapons to kill enemies
- Disarming mines
Find Cyberware Capacity Shards
Players have the chance to increase their Cyberware capacity by finding special Cyberware capacity shards. These shards can permanently boost Cyberware capacity and are one-time use items. However, they are quite rare and can be found on bodies and in loot containers.
Level Up
Leveling up is a reliable way to gradually increase your Cyberware capacity as you progress through the game. Each time you level up, your Cyberware capacity will increase by three points.
