Out of all the RPG games released recently, Cyberpunk 2077 has one of the best TV shows linked to it called Cyberpunk Edgerunners. The developers, CD Projekt Red, have included references and content from the anime in the latest update for Cyberpunk.
One of these references is the bright yellow jacket worn by the main character, David Martinez, and his mom. Players have the opportunity to obtain this jacket in the game, but they will need to complete a side job to earn it.
To start this mini-quest line and find David Martinez’s Edgerunners jacket in Cyberpunk 2077, follow these steps:
Finding and starting the Over the Edge side job
The side job that initiates this quest is called Over the Edge. You can either stumble upon it naturally or use the map to search for potential work in the Arroyo area of Santo Domingo, near Megabuilding H4. Look for a braindance in a garbage bin located in one of the alleyways under the structure. If you’re having trouble finding it, there should be a side job marker on your city map that you can track.
Using the braindance and texting El Capitan
Using the braindance will play a clip from the Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime. After the clip ends, text El Capitan, the local fixer for Santo Domingo, as instructed by the side job. He will discuss the braindance and the history of David Martinez with you. The conversation may seem like it leads to nothing, but be patient.
Waiting for one day cycle
Wait for at least one day cycle in Night City. You can fill this time by doing other jobs or side quests. Alternatively, you can use the Skip Time feature in the main menu to jump straight to the future and add a day.
Getting the Edgerunners jacket from El Capitan
After the one day cycle has passed, you will receive a text from a person named Falco. This former driver for the crew in Edgerunners will start a conversation with you, mentioning the similarities between you and David. After the discussion, Falco will mention that he’ll drop off a gift for you with El Capitan.
To obtain the Edgerunners jacket, go to El Capitan’s location on the cliff, just after a bus stop in southern Rancho Coronado. The jacket will be in a box on the edge of the wall, overlooking the city. Pick up the jacket and add it to your inventory to complete the side job.
This iconic jacket, both rare and significant in the show it references, adds flair to any version of V that players choose to create.
