Sentinels’ SicK explains his competitive play hiatus and hints at imminent return

Sentinel’s Substitutes Head Coach Rawkus for Sick due to Mental Health

Sentinels had to bring in head coach Shane “Rawkus” Flaherty as a substitute for the last few games of the NA VCT campaign because Hunter “SicK” Mims was unable to participate. The reason for SicK’s absence has now been revealed: he has been struggling with mental health issues over the past month. However, he has stated that he is feeling much better and plans to return to competitive play with Sentinels “soon” and stream more regularly.

SicK Opens Up About Mental Health Struggles

In a recent social media post, SicK shared his struggles with mental health and expressed gratitude for the support. He mentioned that he is now feeling much better and hopes to make a comeback in competitive play soon. SicK also promised monthly streaming sessions for his fans.

I’ve been struggling with my mental health over the past month or so. But I’m feeling much better now, thank you everyone for the support. I will hopefully return to competitive play soon. Also of course there will be monthly streams!! – Hunter Mims (@SicK_cs) June 20, 2022

Sentinel’s Performance Without SicK

After SicK’s absence, the Sentinels team used Rawkus as a stand-in player. However, the team experienced losses against OpTic Gaming, FaZe Clan, and Cloud9 in the group stage of the event. SicK’s last official game was against Evil Geniuses on May 21 during the group stage of NA Stage Two Challengers, where Sentinels lost 13-11 and 13-10.

Sentinels’ Future in VALORANT

The Sentinels still have more to play for this season. They will be participating in the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) for the VALORANT Champions 2022 event, which is scheduled to take place in September in Istanbul, Turkey. The LCQ tournament will be played in August, and Sentinels will compete against teams like Cloud9, 100 Thieves, and Evil Geniuses for one of the remaining spots at the event.
