BIG Advances to Semifinals of ESL One Cologne

The German team, BIG, has secured a spot in the semifinals of ESL One Cologne with the advantage of playing on their home turf.

To reach this stage of the $300,000 tournament, BIG defeated G2 Esports from France. BIG chose Cache as their map, while G2 selected Dust II. Inferno was the remaining map after the veto process.

The first map, Cache, showcased G2’s strong performance in the playoffs with their new roster. The score kept fluctuating throughout the match, favoring both teams. However, BIG managed to win in overtime with a score of 19-17, despite Kenny “kennyS” Schrub’s outstanding 42 kills for G2.

In Dust II, BIG dominated G2. They won 13 rounds in a row before G2 was able to make a comeback. G2 struggled to make an impact in the first half, with no player reaching nine kills. BIG ultimately secured a 16-1 victory in the final map against G2.

The biggest challenge for BIG in Cologne will be in tomorrow’s semifinals against the formidable European team, FaZe Clan. The match is scheduled for 11:30am CT, following the Astralis vs. Na’Vi semifinal.
