Netflix launches a lore video for DOTA: Dragon’s Blood with Slacks, Sheever, and ODPixel.

Netflix Releases Video to Introduce Dota Fans to Upcoming Anime Adaptation

In a surprising move, Netflix has released a short video on its NX Twitter account and Netflix Anime YouTube channel to introduce both new and estranged Dota fans to the world of Dota 2 before the release of DOTA: Dragon’s Blood on March 25.

Crash Course on Dota Lore in Under Six Minutes

The video, featuring well-known esports personalities Jake “SirActionSlacks” Kanner, Jorien “Sheever” van der Heijden, and Owen “ODPixel” Davies, provides a crash course on the lore of Dota, condensing nearly 18 years of collected lore into a concise six-minute video.

Surprisingly, the video showcases an uncensored Slacks, and while it includes some jokes and language, it effectively delivers the necessary lore to viewers without unnecessary diversions.

A Foundation for Dota’s Universe

Slacks, alongside Sheever and ODPixel, does an excellent job explaining the main plot of Dota and its origins from the warring Ancients. The video lays the groundwork for Dota’s universe without delving too deep or overlooking the significance of Davion, the Dragon Knight’s upcoming story.

This collaboration between esports and community personalities bodes well for future cross-promotion between the anime series and the game. Additionally, the video provides a glimpse of only “two percent” of Dota’s complete story.

By bringing in popular figures from the esports community, Netflix aims to generate more buzz and engagement for the show and game.
