Hackers allegedly hijack Smart TVs with PewDiePie messages

Two Hackers Stream PewDiePie Message on Smart TVs and Google Home Devices

Recently, two hackers known as HackerGiraffe and j3ws3r have taken credit for a new initiative. They have found a way to stream a message featuring popular YouTube creator Felix Kjellberg, also known as PewDiePie, on various devices including Smart TVs and Google Home. According to a report by Motherboard, the hackers have set up a website to explain the situation to affected users and offer guidance on how to prevent similar hacks in the future. The message displayed on the hacked devices asks viewers to subscribe to PewDiePie’s channel and warns of his potential downfall at the hands of Indian entertainment company T-Series.

The Scope of the Hack and the Hackers’ Intentions

The hackers claim that they have already infiltrated around 4,000 devices, including Chromecast, Google Home, and Samsung TVs. Their previous exploit involved hacking printers and sending messages of support for PewDiePie. In both cases, the hackers are trying to raise awareness about the vulnerabilities of these devices and educate users on how to protect themselves. They state that their actions are motivated by a desire to safeguard users and their favorite YouTubers, particularly PewDiePie. The hackers emphasize the potential consequences of allowing unauthorized access to personal information.

Protecting Users and Exposing Vulnerabilities

The intention of the hackers is not to cause harm but to shed light on the security flaws of these devices and assist affected users in addressing the issue. Their actions serve as a warning to prevent more malicious individuals from taking advantage of these vulnerabilities. This recent incident differs from a previous hack where hackers targeted the Wall Street Journal’s website to promote PewDiePie amidst accusations of anti-Semitic remarks. In that case, the hackers referenced the ongoing subscriber battle between PewDiePie and T-Series on YouTube.

Overall, the actions of these hackers highlight the importance of addressing security concerns and taking necessary measures to protect devices from potential unauthorized access.
