Gamer embarks on a 120-hour streaming marathon

Neroundup | Popular Twitch Streamer Attempts 120-Hour Gaming Marathon

Neal “Koibu” Erickson, popular Twitch streamer, recently attempted a record-breaking 120-hour non-stop gaming session. Despite not being a professional gamer, Erickson has gained a significant following on Twitch with about 1,000 viewers tuning in when he broadcasts.

Erickson, known for his extreme gaming challenges, prepared extensively for this marathon. He researched ways to mitigate the side effects of sleep deprivation, adjusted his diet, and even gave up caffeine two weeks prior to the event. Additionally, he performed 24-hour warm-up streams to prepare for the main marathon.

This intense gaming marathon pushed Erickson to his limits. Starting with popular games like Dota 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and StarCraft 2, Erickson gradually introduced more unusual content as the hours went by. By hour 70, he was hosting panel discussions on topics such as race and politics.

Unfortunately, the lack of sleep began to take a toll on Erickson, and his sentences grew shorter, and his memory faded. Just five minutes short of his previous record of 90 hours, he fell asleep in front of his audience. Fellow Twitch streamer JP McDaniel asked Twitch to manually turn off the stream so that Erickson could get some much-needed rest.

After waking up an hour later, Erickson turned his stream back on and apologized for losing his battle with sleep. He offered his audience a choice: to continue streaming for another thirty hours or to go back to sleep. Sleep won the poll with 63 percent of the vote.

Erickson’s marathon may have ended prematurely, but he still received over $9,000 in donations from his fans. His determination and impressive challenge left a lasting impact on his viewers and garnered him a great deal of respect.
