Adroit Gaming disbands Dota 2 team, discontinues all activities

Adroit Esports Drops Dota 2 Roster Amid Pandemic

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the esports industry continues to be felt as Adroit Esports has made the decision to drop its Dota 2 roster and suspend all operations. This announcement comes as a blow to the up-and-coming team that had gained attention in the Southeast Asian Dota scene. Despite their moderate success in tournaments and sponsor support, the organization has been forced to fold.

Adroit’s journey began in May 2019 and quickly established them as one of the top tier-three teams in SEA. They achieved multiple top finishes and even placed third in the SEA qualifiers for The International 2019. By the end of 2019, the team was competing in higher-tier events, including a second-place finish at ESL One Los Angeles 2020 Online in March.

However, as the pandemic forced the shift to online tournaments, Adroit struggled to keep up with other teams and found themselves in the middle of the pack. Their final event, the Dota Summit 13 online, resulted in a fifth-place finish. Just over a week after this disappointing performance, Adroit has made the difficult decision to cease operations.

In a statement, Adroit expressed gratitude for the opportunities they had and acknowledged the sacrifices made by the team to stay afloat. Unfortunately, the pandemic situation made it impossible to continue. They have released their Dota roster, as well as all support staff, making the players free agents capable of joining other teams.

Adroit has no plans to resume operations in the future, concluding their message with “good game and well played.”
