Doublelift achieves LCS milestone in his first game back on stage after 2 years, despite opening day loss

Doublelift Reaches Career Milestone but 100 Thieves Fall Short Against Cloud9

In his LCS comeback with 100 Thieves, Doublelift made history by reaching a career total of 2,100 kills, becoming the third player in LCS history to achieve this feat. However, despite Doublelift’s milestone, 100 Thieves suffered a loss against the defending LCS champions, Cloud9.

Cloud9 dominated the mid-to-late game and secured a Rift Herald that proved to be a turning point in their favor. With a 3,000 gold advantage at the 20-minute mark, Cloud9 continued to extend their lead, making it difficult for 100 Thieves to stage a comeback.

As the game reached its final minutes, Cloud9 controlled every corner of the map, leaving 100 Thieves with limited options for desperate plays. The game concluded with a lopsided score of 25-8 in kills, and Cloud9 enjoyed a 9,000 gold advantage when 100 Thieves’ Nexus fell.

Doublelift’s milestone kill came in the last minute of the game, surpassing expectations that he would have to wait until the next day to reach the 2,100 mark.

Besides Doublelift, only WildTurtle and Bjergsen have reached the 2,100 kill threshold in LCS history. Bjergsen currently holds the all-time record with 2,293 kills.

Doublelift’s Pursuit of Bjergsen’s Record

To surpass Bjergsen on the career kill leaderboard this year, Doublelift will need to outpace him significantly throughout the 2023 season. However, unless Doublelift plays an entire season without Bjergsen in the league like Bjergsen did in 2022, it is unlikely that the standings on the leaderboard will change for now.

Looking ahead, Doublelift and the rest of the 100 Thieves lineup will have another opportunity to secure their first win of the season against Immortals on January 27.
