The intense rivalry between Fnatic and G2 always draws a large audience, as both teams are consistently among the top contenders in the league. However, this season had even higher stakes for these legacy organizations. The final spot at the 2021 World Championship was up for grabs, elevating the excitement surrounding this series.

Peak viewership behind only the LCK

This viewership milestone of over 843,000 puts the LEC right behind the LCK in terms of peak viewership for the 2021 Summer Split. In South Korea, T1’s semifinals matchup against Gen.G reached an impressive 906,901 viewers, according to Esports Charts. Legendary mid laner Faker led his team to the World Championship for the first time since 2019, maintaining his record as the player with the longest continuous tenure on a single organization.

More exhilarating clashes to come

While there are still many matches to be played worldwide, it is unlikely that any series will reach the same viewership numbers as the Fnatic vs G2 matchup. The only series that could possibly come close are the finals in the four major regions. Exciting clashes are on the horizon, including T1 vs DAMWON-KIA and MAD Lions vs the winner of the upcoming Fnatic-Rogue series.

Don’t miss Fnatic in action against Rogue when the LEC playoffs return on Saturday, Aug. 28.
