Team Liquid Emerges Victorious Over 100 Thieves in Upper Bracket Final of 2021 LCS Championship, Securing Spot in Worlds 2021 Group Stage

Team Liquid Secures Spot in League of Legends World Championship

In the 2021 LCS Championship upper bracket final, Team Liquid emerged victorious over 100 Thieves, winning the series 3-2 and securing a place in the group stage of the League of Legends World Championship.

It has been over three years since 100 Thieves and Team Liquid faced each other in a high-stakes playoff match, with their last postseason encounter occurring in the 2018 LCS Spring Finals. On that day, Team Liquid dominated 100 Thieves with a 3-0 victory to claim the LCS title.

This time around, the competition was much fiercer. Although Team Liquid emerged as the winners with a 3-2 score, 100 Thieves put up a strong fight. This victory sends Team Liquid to their second consecutive LCS Final.

A Hard-Fought Battle

The series between Team Liquid and 100 Thieves was filled with ups and downs. Team Liquid secured the win in the first game but faced defeat in the second, resetting the series. In game three, 100 Thieves had the opportunity to claim victory, but Team Liquid responded in the next game, leading to a fifth and decisive game.

In the final showdown, Team Liquid showcased their strength, securing a late-game advantage that led to victory. Alphari, Team Liquid’s veteran top laner, performed exceptionally well in the final game, earning the title of “Player of the Series” with a perfect scoreline of 6/0/10.

What’s Next for Team Liquid and 100 Thieves?

With this win, Team Liquid secures a spot in the Grand Finals of the 2021 LCS Championship and guarantees themselves one of North America’s top two seeds at the World Championship. This means they will bypass the play-in stage and head straight to the group stage.

For 100 Thieves, their fate in terms of seeding remains uncertain. If they lose in the lower bracket final next week, they may secure the region’s third seed at Worlds, which would require them to compete in the play-in stage.
