Ahri and Lucian display unparalleled dominance in MSI 2022 with a flawless pick/ban rate from start to finish

League of Legends Champions Dominate MSI with Persistent Presence

This year’s Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) showcased the undeniable power of two League of Legends champions, Ahri and Lucian. Despite being frequently banned, these champions made their mark in every game of the tournament.

In the 77 games played at MSI, Ahri and Lucian were consistently present in the pick/ban phase, appearing 100% of the time. While Ahri was picked 33 times, both champions were banned in the remaining 44 matches.

Ahri’s Rising Popularity

Ahri’s popularity has surged in both solo queue and professional play around the world following slight adjustments to her kit in the recent mid-scope update. With the ability to heal for a substantial amount upon defeating enemy champions and unlimited resets for her ultimate, Ahri’s mobility has reached new heights. According to OP.GG, she maintains a 52.22% win rate in Diamond and above, solidifying her position as one of the strongest mid lane choices.

The Menace of Lucian

Lucian, known for his versatility across different roles, displayed exceptional mastery as an ADC during MSI. Despite only being played three times, he boasted a flawless 100% win rate. With high mobility and burst damage potential, especially when paired with the right support, Lucian proved capable of dismantling multiple enemies simultaneously.

Impervious to Patch Changes

MSI was played on League Patch 12.8, two patches behind the current live state of the game. While Ahri received minor nerfs to her W and R abilities, Lucian remained untouched. Although Patch 12.10 introduced durability changes aimed at reducing burst damage, healing, and shielding, these changes have not significantly impacted the win rates of either champion or seen professional play.

Looking Ahead to Patch 12.11

In two weeks, League Patch 12.11 will be released, expected to address the discrepancies related to the durability changes and beyond. Taking into account the data from MSI, it is likely that both Ahri and Lucian will undergo balancing updates to certain aspects of their kits.
