Highest win rate in ARAM for League Patch 11.16 is Reworked Sona

Sona Becomes the Strongest Champion in League of Legends ARAM

Riot Games recently made changes to the support champion Sona in League of Legends Patch 11.16. The intention was to improve the champion’s viability in later stages of Summoner’s Rift games. However, the alterations have unintentionally made Sona a dominant force on the Howling Abyss map, making her the strongest champion in League’s ARAM game mode in Patch 11.16.

In Patch 11.16, the reworked Sona has skyrocketed to the top of the ARAM ladder. According to OP.GG, a League stats site, Sona currently boasts a 56.87% ARAM win rate, the highest among all champions in the game roster.

Kog’Maw and Ashe closely follow Sona in terms of ARAM win rates, with the only other champions to achieve a win rate of 56% or higher in Patch 11.16. Maokai and Xerath complete the top five champions on the list.

One of the main reasons for Sona’s rapid ascent is her new passive ability, Accelerando. This ability allows her to consistently increase her ability haste by participating in teamfights. Since ARAM is known for its intense teamfight gameplay, Sona can rapidly accumulate her abilities on the Howling Abyss compared to Summoner’s Rift. Additionally, the presence of Clarity as a summoner spell on the map helps Sona maintain a consistently high resource pool.

When it comes to popular builds for Sona in ARAM, players tend to focus on traditional support-oriented approaches. Key items such as Moonstone Renewer, Ardent Censer, and Staff of Flowing Water form Sona’s core build on the Howling Abyss. Due to Sona’s kit, which prioritizes survivability, opponents find it challenging to take her down in ARAM, reducing their opportunities for kills as compared to other supports.
