Veteran LoL support IgNar rumored to depart LCS for another region in 2024

NRG Esports’ Support IgNar Reportedly Joining Excel Esports for 2024 Season

According to a report from Sheep Esports, NRG Esports’ support player IgNar has reached a verbal agreement to join Excel Esports in the LEC for the upcoming professional League of Legends season.

IgNar played a crucial role in NRG Esports’ success this year, helping them secure the LCS Summer Split title in August and reaching the quarterfinals of Worlds. This was a significant achievement for the North American League scene and a great way for IgNar to end his time in the region.

Throughout his career, IgNar has been known as a journeyman player, never staying with a team for more than one season. He has played for five different teams in the past four seasons, making a name for himself in both Korea and Europe. Notably, he reached the quarterfinals at Worlds for the first time in 2017 with Misfits Gaming, participating in one of the greatest near-upsets in LoL history against SK Telecom T1.

Joining Excel Esports for the 2024 Season

Excel Esports considered other support players for the starting role, including Hylissang and Trymbi. However, IgNar ultimately secured the position. He will be joining a roster that already includes top laner Odoamne, AD carry Patrik, and mid laner Jackies.

Upcoming Free Agency Window

The global contract database states that player contracts around the world will expire on Nov. 21, 2023, marking the beginning of the offseason’s free agency window.
