Gen.G’s LoL Worlds 2023 exit prompts players to anticipate roster changes

Gen.G’s Starting Roster Eyed for Upgrades After Disappointing 2023 League of Legends World Championship

Gen.G’s starting roster may undergo significant changes in the upcoming offseason following their surprising elimination at the 2023 League of Legends World Championship.

In an interview with Dexerto’s Carver Fisher, Gen.G top laner Doran revealed that the organization is anticipating roster changes in November. While Doran didn’t have details on which players would be joining the lineup, he emphasized that Gen.G will remain a top-tier squad in the LCK.

This unexpected development comes on the heels of Gen.G’s devastating playoff loss to China’s Bilibili Gaming. Despite being favored to win the Summoner’s Cup, Gen.G was unable to advance. However, the team proved its dominance in the LCK throughout 2023 by clinching back-to-back championships.

At the Mid-Season Invitational, Gen.G faced another early exit after being defeated by Bilibili Gaming. Doran expressed his disappointment with their Worlds performance and vowed to use the loss at MSI as motivation to improve. Unfortunately, Gen.G encountered the same challenges on the international stage.

With a star-studded roster that includes veteran jungler Peanut, rookie AD sensation Peyz, and legendary mid laner Chovy, it’s unclear where Gen.G can improve in terms of raw talent. While the team possesses incredible skill, its ability to perform on the grandest stage remains a question mark.

As Gen.G regroups and reevaluates, the remaining competition at Worlds intensifies. China still has all four of its representatives in the tournament, while Korea is left with only two teams. The event continues on Saturday, Nov. 4 with the match between KT Rolster and JD Gaming.
