Zven of Cloud9 Embraces Free Agency and Changes Roles for LCS 2024

Zven Leaves Cloud9 and Looks to Switch Roles in League of Legends

League of Legends player Zven has ended his four-year tenure with Cloud9 and is now seeking opportunities as a bot laner for the 2024 season.

“After four years, four trophies, and lots of good times, my time at Cloud9 has come to an end,” he announced in a tweet on November 2nd.

Since starting his League career in 2013, Zven has always played as a bot laner. However, in 2022 he switched to the support role in Cloud9’s main roster after spending the previous season in the Academy league.

In 2023, Zven had an exceptional year as a support player with Cloud9, boasting high stats. He had the highest kill participation rate in the LCS Summer Split at 77.9%, according to LoL Fandom.

“I want to give a special thanks to [CEO] Jack Etienne,” Zven added in a reply to his tweet. “He took a big risk and gave me a chance when I was at the lowest point of my career when no one else would, and I will always be grateful for that.”

Zven joined Cloud9 in 2019 after missing Worlds twice in a row with TSM. Since joining Cloud9, the team has qualified for Worlds every year, including 2021, 2022, and 2023.

In 2023, Cloud9 had a successful season, becoming LCS champions in the Spring split and finishing at the top of the rankings in the Summer split. However, they lost in the finals to NRG.

Cloud9 made it to the main event of the World Championship, but their journey was halted by Fnatic in the fourth round of the Swiss stage, resulting in a 2-3 loss.

Cloud9 is now rebuilding its roster for the upcoming season. In addition to Zven’s departure, former player Hai has joined as the team manager, six years after his career as a midlaner ended.

It’s still uncertain where Zven will go for the next season. However, he has received praise and encouragement from many personalities in the League of Legends community, such as C9 bot laner Berserker. “I’ve learned a lot in the past two years, not only in the game. It’s been fun to work with you. It will be fun to play against you next year,” Berserker wrote on Twitter. LCS fans are eagerly anticipating this future rivalry in 2024.
