Today, Riot Games finally provided an update on Clash, the highly anticipated tournament feature for League of Legends. After months of delays and regional tests, the company detailed its plan to fix the issues and conduct additional testing later this year.

During previous tests, there were too many simultaneous games starting, which overwhelmed the platform. Riot made temporary fixes, but a long-term solution required changes to the overall structure of the tournament mode.

“Our goal is to strike the right balance between reducing server load and preserving the tournament format to ensure Clash remains the exciting competitive experience we’ve promised,” said Riot IAmWalrus in a recent statement. Here is the link to the statement.

Before further testing can occur, Riot plans to introduce three revisions to the current Clash structure: consecutive bracket starts, two single-day tournaments instead of three, and an additional bracket repair system.

Riot has already begun the next phase of internal testing, with regional testing scheduled for this summer. The exact dates of the regional testing period have yet to be announced. Assuming the testing goes well, Clash will then enter a global beta period before its official launch.

After numerous false starts and failed tests, fans of League of Legends may finally see the return of the tournament feature with improved results.
