T1 dominates DRX with a 2-0 win in the LCK Summer Split
In week 9 of the 2021 LCK Summer Split, Faker led T1 to a swift 2-0 victory over DRX. As the regular split nears its end, each win is crucial for T1, who didn’t have the strongest start to the split. In both games, Faker played a crucial role in securing victories for his team. One MVP vote went to Gumayusi, the AD carry, who had an outstanding performance on Jinx in the first game. Gumayusi dealt massive damage from the backline while T1’s frontline protected him from enemies.
Faker received the second MVP vote for his stellar performance on Ryze in the second game. He applied constant pressure to his opponents even when T1 was behind in terms of gold. His strategic plays led to a strong turnaround towards the end of the match, securing T1 the 2-0 sweep.
The first game was marked by aggressive plays from both teams, but T1 consistently came out on top. They established a gold lead early on and maintained it throughout the game. Although DRX pressured T1 in the early game, T1 prioritized securing the third dragon to prevent DRX from obtaining the game-changing Dragon Soul. Gumayusi played a key role in T1’s midgame by dealing with DRX’s frontline and contributing to T1’s victory.
DRX fought back in the second game, matching T1’s aggression and securing early leads. They also secured multiple neutral objectives, positioning themselves to equalize the series. However, Faker’s immense pressure on Ryze thwarted their plans. He split pushed and drew opponents towards him, allowing his team to scale and ultimately sweep DRX.
T1 aims for first place in the standings
T1 currently holds an 11-6 record and has one more match against Hanwha Life Esports next week before the 2021 LCK Summer Split playoffs. With the top four teams having 11 wins, a crucial victory against Hanwha Life Esports could propel T1 to first place in the standings.
