Evil Geniuses Dominates Opening Series of LCS Championship
In the first series of the 2021 League of Legends (LoL) LCS Championship, Evil Geniuses emerged victorious, defeating Dignitas 3-1. While Dignitas put up a fight, Evil Geniuses proved to be superior and showcased their dominance throughout the series.
There is a considerable gap between the top five teams in North America and the rest of the pack. Evil Geniuses’ swift and decisive victories in three out of the four games emphasized this divide. However, Dignitas demonstrated that the gap may not be as significant as some perceive it to be.
Based on their Summer record and overall performance, Evil Geniuses deserved a higher seed than third place. They finished with the same 18-9 record as the champions, TSM, and the second-place team, 100 Thieves. Additionally, Evil Geniuses had a positive head-to-head record against both TSM and 100 Thieves. On the other hand, Dignitas secured the sixth seed with an impressive performance in the Spring Split.
Evil Geniuses displayed dominance in their victories and made it incredibly challenging for Dignitas in their sole loss. Game three was particularly outstanding, showcasing the explosive potential of Evil Geniuses. Mid laner Jiizuke’s exceptional performance on Lucian and Impact’s overwhelming pressure on Dignitas’ top laner contributed to their resounding victory. Evil Geniuses had a significant gold lead of 5,000 just over 10 minutes into the game.
While Dignitas showed their peak form in game two, their decision to pick Kindred mid in an all-physical-damage composition ultimately sealed their fate in game three. Despite jungler Akaadian’s outstanding performance on Gragas, Evil Geniuses proved to be too formidable for Dignitas to handle.
In the upcoming matches, Evil Geniuses will face second-seeded 100 Thieves in the upper bracket of the LCS Summer Playoffs. Dignitas will start their challenge against Immortals in hopes of making a miraculous run.
