LGD Claims Back-to-Back CDPL Title with Dominant Victory
The China Dota 2 Professional League (CDPL) Season 2 came to an exciting close as PSG.LGD emerged as the champions after a thrilling showdown against Invictus Gaming. The tournament lasted for nearly two months, with PSG.LGD showcasing their dominance to retain the title.
iG entered the grand finals with momentum on their side after upsetting Vici Gaming and sweeping Royal Never Give Up in earlier matches. However, PSG.LGD proved to be an unstoppable force, winning three consecutive games in under 30 minutes each to secure the victory.
LGD started the season on a rough note, but they quickly found their rhythm and climbed to the top of Chinese Dota. Throughout the seven weeks of round-robin play, only RNG had a better record than them. In the playoffs, fy’s squad dropped only two games, displaying their exceptional skills.
Although Newbee’s disqualification for match fixing was a major talking point in the CDPL Season 2, it should not overshadow PSG.LGD’s impressive performance in the closing stages of the tournament. LGD played with a winning mindset and dominated iG in the final three games, with all their core players showcasing exceptional form.
No single player stood out for LGD as they focused on securing victories. Despite this, all three core players demonstrated their strength with both high net worth and damage totals, outplaying their opponents.
Somnus was the standout performer for LGD in game three, securing 10 kills, no deaths, and 8 assists along with 25,500 hero damage. This remarkable performance helped LGD achieve a crushing 25-1 victory in less than 25 minutes.
FlyFly shone for iG in the series opener with an impressive 15/1/6 record on Clinkz, but apart from that single showing, iG struggled to make an impact as LGD dominated the battlefield.
With their back-to-back CDPL championship win, LGD solidifies their status as the team to beat in China. They have performed well in ESL One Birmingham Online and are gearing up for a deep playoff run in another upcoming tournament.
