Comparing Pro Players to Comic Book Superheroes
Professional esports players are often criticized, but they are also admired by many of us. In this new series, I will compare some of our favorite players to comic book superheroes. Today, let’s take a look at five players from the NALCS that share characteristics with superheroes.
#1 Dyrus (TSM Era): Ben “The Thing” Grimm (Fantastic Four)
Dyrus, known for his rock-solid performance, reminds me of The Thing from Fantastic Four. Both players are incredibly reliable and serve as strong backbones for their teams. Despite facing challenges, they always manage to step up when it matters most.
#2 Hai (C9 Era): Reed “Mr. Fantastic” Richards (Fantastic Four)
Hai, with his exceptional shot-calling abilities, is comparable to Mr. Fantastic from Fantastic Four. Both players are essential leaders for their teams, relying more on strategy and intelligence rather than mechanical prowess.
#3 Aphromoo (CLG Golden Age?): James “War Machine” Rhodes (Iron Patriot)
Aphromoo, known for his role in CLG’s strong bottom lane, is similar to James Rhodes, who often plays the sidekick to Iron Man. Both players contribute a great deal to their teams’ success but may not always receive the recognition they deserve.
#4 Saintvicious (all Eras): James “Wolverine” Howlett (all Eras)
Saintvicious, a veteran player who has experienced ups and downs, reminds me of Wolverine. Both players have endured setbacks but have shown incredible resilience and tenacity, proving their worth time and time again.
#5 Wildturtle (TSM Era): Johnny “Human Torch” Storm (Fantastic Four)
Wildturtle, a talented player who sometimes takes risks, can be compared to Human Torch. Both players have immense power and potential, but they need to find the right balance and temper their wild side for optimal performance.
While these comparisons are meant for fun, they highlight the strengths and unique qualities of these players. Just like superheroes, they continue to inspire and entertain us with their extraordinary skills.
