Afreeca Freecs triumph over Griffin with Mystic’s skillful Ashe movement

Jin “Mystic” Seong-jun Shines in LCK Series

Jin “Mystic” Seong-jun’s performance in the best-of-three series between the LCK’s Afreeca Freecs and Griffin was a pleasant surprise. Despite the 2-0 sweep, the match could have gone either way.

After a disappointing 2019 season, where they finished eighth in the spring and fifth in the summer, Afreeca Freecs made changes to their roster. They brought in former Gen.G mid laner Song “Fly” Yong-jun and Team WE AD carry Mystic to join their top laner Kim “Kiin” Gi-in, jungler Lee “Spirit” Da-yoon, and bot laner Son “Jelly” Ho-gyeong.

On paper, Afreeca Freecs seemed like a mid-tier team, but they proved themselves as a formidable force against Griffin. Both games of the series were closely contested. Griffin nearly won the first game, but Mystic’s quick reflexes helped Afreeca Freecs come out on top.

The team displayed great cohesion and excelled in the late game teamfights, securing victory for themselves.

In the second game, Afreeca Freecs found themselves at a disadvantage. They had just lost three players, and Griffin seemed poised for victory. However, Fly and Mystic, confident in their mechanical skills, made a daring move in the river.

Using Mystic’s accurate stutter-stepping on Ashe and a well-timed Quicksilver Sash, Afreeca Freecs prevailed in the two-vs-five situation. Mystic outplayed Griffin one by one, before leading his team to victory.

Afreeca Freecs will face Hanwha Life Esports on Sunday, Feb. 9 in their next match.
