Possible revision: “LoL skin preview video suggests potential changes to Summoner’s Rift”

A Potential Map Update Coming to League of Legends

League of Legends players are eagerly awaiting the upcoming preseason, which promises to bring major changes to the item system. However, it seems that there may also be visual changes on the horizon for the game.

In an unlisted video showcasing the sound effects of the new ward from the Coven skinline, Summoner’s Rift appears to have some differences compared to the version players have been familiar with for years. While it is uncertain if these changes are currently being tested or are from a previous version of the game, some alterations to the jungle terrain seem to address long-standing issues acknowledged by Riot Games.

In the video, the middle part of the map is showcased, revealing several notable updates. The river seems to have been slightly widened, with the brush that typically separates it from the mid lane pushed back. Additionally, a wall can be seen either blocking off or narrowing the path from mid to the blue buff. Similar changes might be present on the other side as well.

The minimap in the bottom right corner of the video also provides a glimpse of an open Baron pit, no longer enclosed by walls. It remains unclear if the dragon pit would undergo similar changes, which would make fighting for either objective much riskier.

These alterations would greatly impact the way players move around Summoner’s Rift, especially for junglers who may need to find new paths between camps. The map changes should also be considered when dealing with Elemental Rifts, which physically alter the map when activated by defeating two dragons.

Despite these apparent changes, Riot Games has not officially announced any modifications coming to Summoner’s Rift in the near future. The only confirmed update for the preseason is the removal of Mythic items.
