Immortals releases support player Destiny ahead of 2022 LCS Summer Split

Immortals Parts Ways with Support Player Destiny

Immortals, the North American organization, has made changes to its League of Legends roster for the upcoming 2022 Summer Split. As a result of the team’s disappointing performance in the Spring Split, they have decided to say goodbye to their 24-year-old support player, Mitchell “Destiny” Shaw.

The team expressed their gratitude towards Destiny, saying, “Today we’re saying farewell to [Destiny]. Thank you for everything you’ve dedicated to the team since joining in late 2020. From the laughs to the hooks, you’ve been an unforgettable part of our history and we’re wishing you the best in all that you do.”

The Spring Split concluded with Immortals finishing at the bottom of the LCS standings, alongside TSM, with a 5-13 record. TSM proved to be the stronger team in their matches against Immortals. Immortals has consistently ranked in the lower half of the standings since rejoining the LCS in 2020.

New Addition: Korean Support IgNar

League insider Alejandro Gomis recently reported that Immortals has signed Korean support Lee “IgNar” Dong-geun for the upcoming split. IgNar previously played for Evil Geniuses but left the team earlier this year. With IgNar on the roster, Evil Geniuses placed third in the 2021 Summer Split and secured a spot in the playoffs. However, they were ultimately eliminated by Cloud9 in the second round of the losers bracket.

While Immortals focuses on rebuilding for the Summer Split starting on June 18, fans of League of Legends around the world eagerly await the group stage of the Mid-Season Invitational, one of the major international tournaments in the esport. The tournament is set to commence on May 10.
