Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok, renowned for his dominance in the top lane, showcased his skills in a different role on his stream. Despite his reputation as one of the best top laners, TheShy demonstrated that his champion pool extends beyond his specialty.
On his stream, TheShy decided to play as Aphelios, the latest champion to join the game. Despite the numerous nerfs the champion has faced, placing him at the bottom of the tables, TheShy’s mechanical prowess allowed him to shine.
In a critical moment, TheShy was just seconds away from recalling to his base, with only a sliver of health remaining. However, the enemy Senna appeared on his radar, unleashing her powerful attack, Piercing Darkness, and almost securing the kill. Instead of accepting defeat, TheShy reacted swiftly. With the perfectly timed stun from his Syndra teammate, he swiftly eliminated Senna, earning an effortless kill.
Although Aphelios has been nerfed, he should never be underestimated. In Platinum and above, he maintains a win ratio of 48%. However, in competitive play, the story is quite different. During the first week of the LCS and LEC, Aphelios has been picked or banned nearly 100% of the time. While amateurs may still be grappling with him, professional players have already recognized his potential.
Thus far, TheShy has exclusively played Aphelios in the bot lane. However, considering his versatility, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him excel with this champion in other positions as well.
