Nexus Blitz Returns to LoL Sooner Than Expected
League of Legends fans were thrilled when Riot Games introduced a new experimental game mode called Nexus Blitz before its discontinuation in 2018. Nexus Blitz offered an exciting and chaotic five-vs-five experience with unique mechanics that players loved.
Fortunately, Riot has officially announced that Nexus Blitz will be making a comeback much sooner than anticipated this year.
Nexus Blitz gained immense popularity among League of Legends players who were yearning for a fresh game mode. While ARAM and URF were enjoyable options for casual gaming, they had become repetitive for the player base. This led to a demand for faster and more exhilarating gameplay.
The end of summer signals the start of the excitement that awaits.
When can we expect Nexus Blitz to return to LoL?
Nexus Blitz will be available on the League client starting from October 24, 2023, at 2pm CT. Riot officially confirmed its return in a blog post about the Worlds 2023 event. Nexus Blitz will be playable until November 28 at 1am CT.
It has been over five years since this game mode was last accessible, which means newer players who have recently joined Summoner’s Rift will finally get to experience the thrilling and fast-paced gameplay for the first time.
In late November, there is a high possibility that the developers will remove Nexus Blitz from live servers. This is to make way for the re-release of another popular mode called Arena. Managing and updating both modes simultaneously would be challenging, which is why Nexus Blitz will only be available from October to November.
What is Nexus Blitz?
Nexus Blitz provides a condensed, faster-paced version of League of Legends, designed for casual players who want to jump into the action quickly while still working together as a team of five. The mode introduces various randomized events with fantastical mechanics, including a Scuttle Crab race, Nexus battles, and a battle royale-style event with a closing circle of fire.
The map in Nexus Blitz is smaller compared to Summoner’s Rift, with fewer turrets and multiple events happening simultaneously. This encourages players to constantly gank and rotate across the map, earning kills and snowballing towards victory.
Riot is expected to release more information about the upcoming release of Nexus Blitz in the following weeks.
