Astralis Signs Former Fredit BRION Challengers Support JeongHoon for 2022 LEC Summer Split
Former Fredit BRION Challengers support player Lee “JeongHoon” Jeong-Hoon is set to join LEC team Astralis for the upcoming 2022 LEC Summer Split. Astralis had a disappointing performance in the Spring Split, finishing in 10th place, and has been making changes to improve its roster.
Changes in Astralis’ Offseason
Astralis made a series of announcements during the offseason, including the departures of top laner Matti “WhiteKnight” Sormunen, support Hampus Mikael “promisq” Abrahamsson, and jungler Nikolay “Zanzarah” Akatov. This left Astralis with only two players from the Spring Split.
Roster Upgrades for Astralis
Astralis saw this as an opportunity to strengthen their team and made significant moves to do so. They acquired top laner Kiss “Vizicsacsi” Tamas to replace WhiteKnight and sought out Immortals jungler Andrei “Xerxe” Dragomir after Zanzarah’s departure. Now, they have completed their lineup by signing JeongHoon as their starting support for the Summer Split.
Reuniting Former Teammates
If speculations about the roster hold true, this lineup would bring back Kobbe, Vizicsacsi, and Xerxe, who were teammates on Splyce in 2019 and reached the quarterfinals of Worlds that year. After a challenging start to 2022, with Kobbe and Xerxe finishing 10th in their respective leagues and Vizicsacsi struggling to find a team, the trio looks to build on their past successes and help Astralis improve on their poor performance in the Spring Split.
JeongHoon, an up-and-coming talent from the LCK CL, will make his debut for Astralis in 2022. He previously played for Fredit BRION Challengers in 2021. With his move to a new team in a different region, JeongHoon aims to contribute to the new and improved Astralis during the Summer Split.
Meanwhile, fans can support G2 Esports as they represent the LEC at the Mid-Season Invitational in Busan, South Korea from May 10 to 29. The tournament will have a live audience in Busan’s Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO).
