Ppd bids farewell to competitive Dota 2

Peter “ppd” Dager, Dota 2 Pro, Retires After 7 Years

Peter “ppd” Dager, a prominent figure in the Dota 2 competitive scene, has officially announced his retirement after a successful career spanning over seven years. This decision comes amidst the uncertainty surrounding the 2020 Dota 2 season.

Throughout his career, ppd has led several teams to top rankings in the Dota world. His legendary run as captain of Evil Geniuses resulted in their victory at The International 2015.

At the age of 28, the captain of Ninjas in Pyjamas, ppd, has decided to step away from gaming to explore other areas of personal growth. He believes that a change in mentality is necessary and eagerly looks forward to embracing new opportunities in the coming years.

While ppd could have continued to lead NiP against top European teams, he does not want to compromise on his ambition for the game. As he states, “Today I find myself focused on personal growth rather than competition versus others, and because of that, I feel like I have lost the grit and ambition necessary for myself to be the competitor I’m comfortable being.”

In a time of transition for both NiP and the Dota 2 competitive scene, ppd’s departure leaves a significant gap to fill. Despite the team’s recent struggles, ppd’s strategic mindset, drafting ability, and technical skill at the five position will be sorely missed.

With his retirement, ppd plans to explore other ventures, including potentially delving into the business side of esports or taking a break to stream. His legacy as one of the best captains in Dota 2 will undoubtedly remain intact, and fans and players alike are grateful for the world of Dota 2 that he contributed to.
