LCS’s 2022 Spring Split Finals Garner Record-Breaking Peak Viewership

2022 LCS Spring Split Playoff Finals See Highest Viewership in LCS History

The 2022 LCS Spring Split playoff finals between Evil Geniuses (EG) and 100 Thieves garnered significant attention, attracting a peak viewership of 387,072 across Twitch and YouTube, according to Esports Charts. EG emerged victorious in the best-of-five series, securing their first-ever championship.

This record-breaking viewership surpasses that of any game or series during the entire 2022 LCS Spring Split and postseason. While not the highest viewership ever achieved by an LCS stream, it surpasses the previous record set during the 2021 LCS Summer Split, which had 364,328 viewers—the lowest since 2016.

According to Esports Charts, the overall viewership numbers include co-streams by various creators across different streaming platforms. Prominent creators such as Valkyrae, Doublelift, and LS were given permission to co-stream the matches, offering viewers different perspectives from the regular broadcast desk.

The LCS Twitch and YouTube channels experienced a noticeable surge in viewership following the conclusion of the VCT Masters Reykjavík 2022, where OpTic emerged victorious over LOUD with a clean sweep. This event attracted over 1 million concurrent viewers across the VALORANT channels, making it the third VALORANT event to achieve such numbers.

Esports Charts reports that the 2022 LCS Spring Split amassed over 17 million hours of watched content. Other notable high-viewership matches include the playoff clash between 100 Thieves and Team Liquid, as well as Cloud9’s first game of the split against EG.

Fans can anticipate EG representing the LCS at MSI 2022, set to commence on May 10 in Busan, South Korea.
