Valve released Patch 7.25c last night, which nerfed the regeneration items meta that has been popular recently.

Changes to some heroes were expected, but there were no buffs except for a cost decrease to Dust of Appearance. Here’s everything you need to know about Patch 7.25c.

Regen meta nerfed

In recent weeks, Dota 2 pros and high-level players have been using regeneration items, like Headdress of Regeneration and Ring of Regeneration, instead of healing consumables. Valve increased the cost of Ring of Tarrasque to prevent players from buying it with starting gold. Small starting items are more valuable than consumables since they can be built into important items, like Soul Ring, Pipe of Insight, Helm of Dominator, or Mekansm.

The regeneration items didn’t receive cost nerfs, but their health regeneration amount has been decreased. Supports may still pick up the Headdress occasionally, but cores might need to get a Healing Salve or two to stay in lane.

The only item that didn’t provide health regen and was nerfed was Necronomicon. Its provided strength has been reduced.

Changes to All Pick

The most important change to this patch is a revision of the matchmaking mode All Pick. Blind picking for each team has been introduced, and players can’t see the opposing picks until the round is over. If two players pick the same hero, it will be banned instead. A new round of picking will then take place. This change encourages players to expand their hero pools.

Owned observer wards can now be attacked

Observer wards that you personally plant can now be attacked, even at full health. You have to directly issue an attack command to attack your own ward. Observer wards purchased by an ally and then planted by yourself count as your ward. This change does not apply to other wards, like sentries or Shadow Shaman’s Serpent Wards.

Heroes

A total of twelve heroes were nerfed in Patch 7.25c.

Meepo

Meepo has seen a resurgence in the pro scene after 7.25. The hero received a reduction to his base agility and an increase in the level requirement for his ultimate, Divided We Stand. These changes will make it harder for Meepo to have a strong laning stage.

Death Prophet

Death Prophet has become a top-tier pick in the mid lane. The hero received a small base damage nerf, an increased mana cost for Spirit Siphon, and a nerf to her Aghanim’s Scepter upgrade.
