The 2023 League of Legends World Championship Unveils New Anthem

The highly anticipated 2023 League of Legends World Championship is just around the corner. To add to the excitement, Riot Games has revealed details about this year’s official Worlds anthem.

The anthem, titled “GODS,” will be performed by popular K-pop group NewJeans. Riot announced that it will release the song on October 4th at 12am CT, coinciding with the start of the championship and the arrival of over 100 players in South Korea.

Partnering with Local Artists for the Championship Tradition

Riot Games continues its tradition of collaborating with local artists for the Worlds event song. This time, they have joined forces with global K-pop sensation NewJeans. Comprised of five talented women, Hanni, Danielle, Minji, Hyein, and Haerin, NewJeans brings their beautiful vocals and powerful performance to “GODS.” The song’s epic production elements perfectly capture the essence of the intense competition that awaits players at Worlds.

Working closely with Riot’s principal composer Sebastien Najand and renowned DJ and music producer Mako, NewJeans has created a unique anthem that blends their own artistic identity with the distinct style of League of Legends. The group expressed their excitement about exploring a different genre and sound, hoping that fans will find a renewed sense of empowerment through their song.

From Deft’s introduction to League of Legends in high school to his incredible performance at Worlds 2022, the music video will be a testament to the resilience and determination of esports athletes.

Get Ready for Worlds with the Captivating “GODS” Anthem

The music video will take viewers on a nostalgic journey of Deft’s career, leading up to his triumphant lifting of the Summoner’s Cup.
