League of Legends Champions from Piltover and Zaun
Since its release in 2009, League of Legends has introduced over 150 champions. These champions are divided into five categories based on their roles in the game. Additionally, the game features a rich lore that explores the champions’ backgrounds and stories in the world of Runeterra.
In the world of Runeterra, there are nine distinct regions, each with its own unique aesthetics, values, and stories. One of the most well-known regions is formed by the cities of Piltover and Zaun. These cities serve as the link between the north and south continents and thrive with commerce and brilliant minds at work.
Champions from Piltover and Zaun
As of April 2022, there are 22 champions in League of Legends who hail from Piltover and Zaun. Here is a list of these playable characters in alphabetical order:
Blitzcrank
The Great Steam Golem Blitzcrank was initially created to handle hazardous waste in Zaun. However, he discovered his true calling in selflessly helping the fragile people of the undercity slums with his near-indestructible body.
Caitlyn
Caitlyn Kiramman, born to one of the wealthiest noble houses of Piltover, became the Sheriff of Piltover after saving her family and the city from an unknown criminal. Caitlyn is also featured in the animated series Arcane, where her story differs slightly from her lore in the game.
Camille
Camille, also known as the Steel Shadow, is an elite operative and the principal intelligencer of Clan Ferro. She transformed her once human body into a hextech-powered death machine to maintain order in Piltover.
Dr. Mundo
Dr. Mundo, Zaun’s famous Mad Man, was a patient in the asylum and later proclaimed himself a doctor after “curing” the staff. He instills fear in the inhabitants of the undercity and has quite a reputation.
Ekko
Ekko, a prodigy from Zaun, developed his invention called the Zero Drive and became known as the boy who shattered time. His story is also featured in the animated series Arcane, but it diverges slightly from his lore in the game.
Ezreal
Ezreal, known as the Prodigal Explorer, is an adventurous character and son of a renowned archaeologist in Piltover. With his mystical Shuriman gauntlet, he navigates challenging labyrinths and perils throughout Runeterra.
Heimerdinger
Heimerdinger, the Revered Inventor, is a brilliant yordle professor in Piltover. He’s known for his lethal and miraculous machinery, but he eventually hides his fluffy appearance due to the city’s growing fear of yordles.
Janna
Janna, the mysterious wind spirit, protects the people of Zaun from catastrophic events. She is as powerful as she is merciful and is often referred to as The Storm’s Fury.
Jayce
Jayce, the Defender of Tomorrow, is a scientific genius from Piltover who defends his hometown with his Hextech Hammer. His personality and story have undergone significant changes in the animated series Arcane.
Jinx
Jinx is a maniac, eccentric, and brilliant criminal from Piltover and Zaun. She unleashes chaos throughout the region and despises boredom. Her character is well-portrayed in the animated series Arcane.
Orianna
Orianna, also known as The Lady of Clockwork, had to replace her entire body with metal artifacts after an accident in Zaun. She freely roams between the undercity and Piltover, sometimes venturing outside the region.
Renata Glasc
Renata Glasc, rising from the ashes of her Zaunite home, built an empire through hard work and became the wealthiest chem-baron in Zaun. Her ambition knows no bounds, and she aims to own everything eventually.
Seraphine
Seraphine, the starry-eyed Songstress, was born in Piltover to Zaunite parents. She can hear the souls of others and resonates with them through her performances.
Singed
Singed, the Mad Chemist, pushes his knowledge and experiments to the limit. He was present in the animated series Arcane, although his character was not very prominent in the early episodes. He later becomes a crucial figure in the storylines of Viktor and potentially another champion with claws.
Twitch
Twitch is a sneaky rat from Zaun who searches for treasures and moldy sandwiches in the undercity’s dumps. His presence in the first series of Arcane is hinted at but not explicitly shown.
Urgot
Urgot, also known as the uncaged Wrath of Zaun, was once a powerful headsman in Noxus but was betrayed and transformed into a monstrous figure with mechanical legs and guns. He still retains the face of a haunted man.
Vi
Vi, formerly a criminal from Zaun, now works with Piltover’s police force, the Wardens. She wears powerful hextech gauntlets that give her superhuman strength. Vi is one of the main characters in the animated series Arcane, and her story has some changes compared to her game lore.
Viktor
Viktor, known as the Machine Herald, is an idealist who seeks to fuse technological advancement with humankind. The Viktor portrayed in the animated series Arcane differs from the Viktor in the game, as he becomes a lethal machine driven solely by progress.
Warwick
Warwick, once a man, is now a monster hunting the alleys of Zaun. He was transformed through alchemy, giving him superhuman strength and a keen sense of smell. His character in Arcane defends his people, similarly to another character with claws.
Zac
Zac, the product of a toxic spill, is a sentient being made of chemicals from Zaun. He originated from a pool of toxins and now dwells in the undercity’s pipes.
Zeri
Zeri is a compassionate and energetic champion from Zaun who uses her electric magic to help those in need. Her community looks up to her as a bright light in the darkness.
Ziggs
Ziggs, a brilliant mind from Piltover, grew tired of his life and moved to Zaun to pursue explosive experiments freely.
