Owner of Dragon Gate speaks out after suspension, plans to sue Garena

The Owner of Dragon Gate Speaks Out After Team Suspension

Hu Wei-jie, the owner of Dragon Gate, has voiced his concerns after his team was permanently suspended from the LMS due to allegations of match-fixing and betting on competitive matches.

In a series of posts on the team’s Weibo account, Wei-jie shared photos of a solicitor’s letter, threatening legal action against Garena. He also made three written statements addressing the investigation, the circumstances surrounding the supposed match-fixing, and his criticism of AD carry Liu “Soul” Kai, who initially declined the match-fixing offer.

Wei-jie Accuses Garena of Bias and Cover-up

Wei-jie stated that Garena prevented the organization from contacting Riot during the investigation, which he believes led to a biased judgment. He also questioned the lack of evidence provided in the investigation post, suggesting that Garena was concealing the details to favor SuperEsports’ entry into the LMS.

Questions on SuperEsports’ Compliance with LMS Rules

Additionally, Wei-jie pointed out that SuperEsports violated LMS rules by only having five registered players instead of the required minimum of six players.

Denial of Match-Fixing and Concerns About Soul’s Well-being

Wei-jie also disputed the claims of match-fixing, stating that no game was highlighted where jungler Liu “JGY” Yang intentionally threw the match. He also denied owning a second team, contradicting top laner Huang “2188” Jin-Long’s statement. Wei-jie expressed concern for Soul’s well-being, describing him as a problem gambler who has lost a significant amount of money. He also mentioned that Soul’s disruptive behavior and impact on the team’s playing environment were the reasons for his removal, not because he refused to fix games.

While these statements may reflect poorly on Riot, Garena, and the players of Dragon Gate, former employees of Dragon Gate have come forward in support of the players. Irene Chou, a former manager, revealed that the team had to play with broken tables and poor internet. She also experienced harassment from Dragon Gate staff after leaving the organization. Chou further disclosed that the team had reached out to other squads in the ECS (LMS Challenger Series) to report SuperEsports’ rule violations, although no team took action.

No players from Dragon Gate have made any additional statements at this time.
