CLG Manager, Kelby May, Decides to Resign

Counter Logic Gaming’s Manager Steps Down

Counter Logic Gaming (CLG) has undergone a significant shake-up following a challenging season. Kelby May, who had been the manager of the League of Legends squad since 2013, has now stepped down. In his place, Matthew “Mattcom” Marikian, the former assistant manager and art director, will take over. The team will also welcome a new director of finance and operations, Bryan Chen, to help with May’s former responsibilities.

This departure is not an isolated incident for CLG. Coach Christopher “MonteCristo” Mykles, who had played a pivotal role in bringing the team to Korea for training before the NA LCS playoffs, parted ways with the squad after they failed to beat Team Curse in the playoffs’ first game.

May, on the other hand, will assume the position of vice president of accounts and talent at GoodGame, an esports agency based in San Francisco that represents Evil Geniuses, Alliance, and others. There is still potential for a beneficial relationship between CLG and GoodGame, as the team plans to enter into sponsorships with them as part of their projected expansion.

May had been the General Manager of CLG since 2013. Despite several changes made to the team during his tenure, they have yet to reach the World Championships. After narrowly avoiding relegation from the League Championship Series, it is likely that this managerial change is just the beginning of a series of changes to come for the squad.
