League of Legends: Controversial Dispute Arises as Prominent Figures Involved in Unpaid Compensation

League of Legends Coaches in Public Spat over Missing Payments

An argument between League of Legends coach Nick “LastShadow” De Cesare and Gamers2 owner Carlos “ocelote” Santiago Rodriguez has escalated into a public dispute. De Cesare claims that Rodriguez owes him hours of pay for coaching the team, and the argument was broadcast over Twitch. The disagreement reached its peak when Rodriguez threatened De Cesare, unaware that it was being streamed to an audience. This incident has caused tension in the esports community.

Initial Hesitation and Late Emergency Coaching

In mid-July, Gamers2’s manager, Luis Rivera, approached De Cesare about coaching the team for their Challenger Series matches. However, Rivera initially found De Cesare’s price too high. Despite this, on July 29, just before an important game against H2K, Rivera reached out to De Cesare for emergency coaching. De Cesare agreed, despite their previous disagreement on price.

Working with Gamers2 and Unpaid Coaching Services

De Cesare worked closely with Gamers2’s players, providing individual coaching sessions and creating over five hours of video content for team analysis. He estimates that he spent around 12 to 14 hours coaching the team. At this time, Rivera also promised that De Cesare would receive a set amount per month as the team’s official analyst. However, after Gamers2 lost their series against Unicorns of Love, ending their promotion hopes, Rodriguez informed De Cesare that he would not be hired full-time.

Miscommunication and Unfulfilled Promises

Following the loss, De Cesare pursued Rivera and Rodriguez for payment. However, both individuals provided excuses and even denied that there was an agreement in place. Rodriguez asserted that Rivera did not have the authority to make financial decisions for Gamers2. De Cesare began to publicly broadcast their conversations on Twitch, which led to Rodriguez attempting to deflect criticism and make assurances that payments would be made.

The aftermath of the dispute saw Rivera agreeing to pay De Cesare $200 for a single hour of coaching, but even this payment has yet to materialize. De Cesare feels that all his time spent with Gamers2 was viewed as a waste because it did not yield the desired results. He expresses disappointment in Rodriguez and the whole situation.

Throughout this ordeal, De Cesare’s Twitch channel has been a platform for broadcasting the ongoing dispute to his audience. The incident has brought attention to the issue of missing payments and has sparked discussions about fair compensation in the esports industry.
