Licorice and Triple Dominated Week 6 of 2021 Summer Split with 19 kills each

LCS Introduces New Players and Upsets in the 2021 Summer Split

The LCS has been introducing new talent and unexpected outcomes during the 2021 Summer Split. Emerging players like Licorice from Golden Guardians and Triple from FlyQuest have been making waves in the League of Legends community.

Licorice, who joined the league in 2018 with Cloud9, has had a varied career. He won the 2020 LCS Spring Split championship, participated in Worlds twice, and made it to the semifinals in his first year as an LCS starter. However, he now finds himself adjusting to a team that is not at the top of the standings.

After struggling to achieve the same level of success with FlyQuest, Licorice was acquired by Golden Guardians earlier this month. Despite being on a bottom-tier team, he has shown his potential as a top laner in North America. In the recent games, Licorice accumulated 19 kills, 18 assists, and only seven deaths. He also ranked second in kill participation percentage and third in average damage to champions among LCS top laners, according to Oracle’s Elixir.

Triple, FlyQuest’s Academy-promoted mid laner, matched Licorice’s impressive kill count over the weekend. The 22-year-old player from OCE achieved 19 kills, 26 assists, and a 7.5 KDA. Triple played a crucial role in FlyQuest’s victories against C9, CLG, and Immortals, leading to their first 3-0 weekend of the 2021 Summer Split.

Other notable players on the kill leaderboard this weekend include Fudge from C9, Danny from Evil Geniuses, and Nxi from FlyQuest. If these players can maintain their performances, they could pave the way for a new era of North American esports.

Don’t miss the upcoming matches of the 2021 LCS Summer Split, featuring these talented rookies. The action continues on Friday, July 16.
