Cloud9 and Unicorns of Love are chosen by fans to compete in IEM San Jose.

Cloud9 and Unicorns of Love are heading to San Jose in December for the Intel Extreme Masters. The two teams won a fan vote to join the League of Legends tournament lineup, which already includes Team SoloMid and Alliance, the League Championship Series regional champions.

Cloud9, despite losing their title to Team SoloMid last season, is the most dominant American team of the year and will have a chance to seek revenge against their American rivals. On the other hand, Unicorns of Love is a newcomer to the European LCS. They earned their spot in the professional ranks by upsetting Millenium in the Spring Promotion tournament, and now they have the opportunity to face off against the best teams in the West.

Cloud9 received 41.7% of the vote, beating out Curse Gaming, who had 34.2% of the vote. Fans are excited to see how Chae “Piglet” Gwang-jin will fit into the Curse lineup. Meanwhile, Unicorns of Love managed to secure 47.9% of the vote, surpassing a potentially blockbuster SK Gaming team.

In addition to Cloud9 and Unicorns of Love, the eight-team tournament will also feature four teams from Brazil and Latin America, starting on December 6.
