Cloud9 Returns to the Dota 2 Scene
Cloud9 has made a comeback in the Dota 2 scene after being absent for nearly three years. The organization’s star player, EternaLEnVy, has also joined the team along with Sneyking. They were expected to strengthen Cloud9’s roster after leaving the Flying Penguins stack, but there was a surprise addition to the team as well.
Roster Changes
In a recent announcement on Twitter, Cloud9 revealed that Skem and vtFaded have been moved to the bench, while FLee has been released from the organization. In their place, EternaLEnVy, Ace, and Sneyking have joined the Cloud9 family.
Ace’s Return to Cloud9
Ace, formerly of Team Secret and Ninjas in Pyjamas, will be playing for Cloud9 once again. He previously played for the organization in 2017 before they left the Dota 2 scene. After being released by NiP last September, Ace has been inactive until now.
The Reunion
EternaLEnVy will be reuniting with his old friends, MISERY and pieliedie, both of whom he used to play with on Cloud9. EternaLEnVy and pieliedie have a long history together as allies, achieving a top-six finish at The International 2014. They have played together on teams like Secret, Team NP, and Fnatic.
Cloud9’s Return to Form
With the addition of EternaLEnVy, Cloud9 was one of the most consistent teams in the North American region. While they were never able to reach the top due to the dominance of Evil Geniuses, the organization hopes to quickly regain their previous form despite joining the season late.
A Homecoming in North America
After briefly playing in the Southeast Asian region, Cloud9 is making a full return to a North American roster. They will compete in the NA region for the remainder of the season. With only two rounds of the Dota Pro Circuit left, Cloud9 will need to work hard to secure a spot in TI 2020. They will likely participate in the qualifiers for the EPICENTER Major in April.
