LGD Gaming Sweeps Legacy Esports to Advance to Worlds 2020 Group Stage

LGD Gaming secures a spot in the 2020 League of Legends World Championship group stage

Despite a shaky start, LGD Gaming from China’s LPL has advanced to the group stage of the 2020 League of Legends World Championship. They swept the OPL’s Legacy Esports in a three-game series during the knockout phase of the play-in stage.

LGD’s mid laner xiye and jungler Peanut delivered strong performances in today’s match against Legacy, solidifying their place in the main event’s group stage. In particular, Peanut’s impressive game two on his signature champion Nidalee sparked a comeback for LGD. Following this victory, Peanut’s record on Nidalee stands at an astounding 25-6.

LGD continued their dominance by swiftly winning game three in just 24 minutes.

With their win over Legacy, LGD will now proceed straight to the group stage as the fourth representative from China. Due to the rule preventing teams from the same region from competing in the group stage, LGD has been placed in Group C.

In Group C, LGD will face off against other international powerhouses such as Fnatic, Gen.G, and TSM. Notably, LGD previously clashed with TSM in the 2015 World Championship.

On the other hand, Legacy Esports, representing Oceania, has been eliminated from Worlds 2020. Once again, the OPL won’t progress to the main event of the World Championship. However, this year showed promising progress for the region.
