GIGABYTE Marines Showcase Unconventional Bot Lanes at Vietnam Championship Series
The GIGABYTE Marines, known for breaking the meta in League of Legends, recently surprised fans with their unconventional bot lane picks during their opening match of the Vietnam Championship Series.
For support and ADC, they opted for Sion and Ornn, respectively. As expected from this rebellious team, they emerged victorious with their unique choices.
Initially, playing Sion and Ornn was challenging because they lacked the range to deal with a traditional ADC. The enemy’s Alistar constantly pushed them around, while Ezreal took advantage and harassed them. This posed a struggle for Phan “Sya” Trung Toàn’s Ornn and Tran “Archie” Minh Nhut’s Sion.
However, they quickly found their strength. The Ornn-Sion combo excels in teamfights, thanks to their immense area-of-effect knockups and crowd control abilities. At the 17-minute mark, they engaged in their first intense teamfight, which turned out to be a resounding success.
Not content with their initial unorthodox picks, the GIGABYTE Marines decided to run Fiddlesticks in the mid lane for the next game of the series. As expected, they emerged victorious once again. Mid laner Doàn “Zeroday” Minh Trung particularly stood out, finishing the game with an impressive 7-1 kill-death record.
While it will be some time before the GIGABYTE Marines can showcase their unconventional picks on the Worlds stage, it’s still exciting to watch them dominate in their home region for now.
