Tryndamere emerges as the top champion in League of Legends following enormous buffs

League of Legends Patch 13.17: Tryndamere Shaking Up the Meta

The latest patch in League of Legends, Patch 13.17, has brought about a significant shift in the game’s meta. Tryndamere, in particular, has seen a surge in success after receiving some major buffs.

In this patch, Tryndamere has been transformed into a formidable force. His attack range has been increased from 125 to 175 units, and his base AD has been raised from 68 to 72. These changes have elevated Tryndamere’s dueling potential, allowing him to outmatch most melee champions and even control mages. As a result, his win rate has skyrocketed.

One notable aspect of Patch 13.17 is Tryndamere’s dominance in the mid lane. While he has occasionally played in this position before, he has never fully committed to it. However, in 2021, Tryndamere showed promise as a mid laner leading up to the World Championship, and it seems like he may be making a similar move this year as well.

Currently, Tryndamere boasts an impressive 56.02% win rate in the mid lane, surpassing all other champions in that position across all ranks, according to U.gg, a League statistics site. Although his win rate in the top lane (52.37%) is slightly lower, it still outperforms other qualified champions in that role.

While Tryndamere’s win rate may seem excessively high, it is likely to gradually decrease from its current peak. Sustaining a win rate in the high 50s, especially across all ranks in solo queue, is highly unlikely. In fact, there are six champions with higher win rates at Emerald+ ranks, and Akshan overtakes Tryndamere’s win rate in the mid lane at high ranks, according to U.gg. Therefore, Tryndamere’s current success may be influenced by a bias towards lower ranks.

Patch 13.17 is now live on all League of Legends servers, and players can anticipate further balance adjustments when Patch 13.18 is unveiled next week. It’s highly probable that Tryndamere will receive some nerfs during the next update.
