Bengi Officially Announced as T1 Head Coach after Strong Performance at Worlds 2022

Bae “Bengi” Seong-woong Re-signs with T1 as Head Coach

Bae “Bengi” Seong-woong has extended his contract with T1’s League of Legends division and will continue to serve as the team’s head coach in 2023.

Earlier today, it was announced that the legendary former jungler will take on the role of head coach for the upcoming season. Meanwhile, two other coaches, Kim “Moment” Ji-hwan and Kim “Asper” Tae-gi, have bid farewell to the organization.

Exciting Move for T1

T1 is excited to welcome Bengi as he takes the reins of the team. Bengi assumed the position of interim head coach on Sept. 4, after the team’s second-place finish in the 2022 LCK Summer Playoffs. Under Bengi’s leadership, T1 reached the finals of Worlds 2022 for the fifth time in its history, although they were ultimately defeated by DRX.

Prior to Bengi’s arrival in September, Choi “Polt” Seong-hun was the head coach of the team but transitioned to the role of general manager when Bengi joined. Polt also left the organization on Nov. 13.

New Beginnings for T1

With Bengi assuming the head coach role and the departure of three other staff members, it seems that T1 is in the process of reconfiguring its League coaching staff for the upcoming season. As for the roster itself, there have been no rumors indicating any departures.

Notably, the LCK’s format will undergo a change in the next season. The competition will introduce a double-elimination bracket for the playoffs and integrated rosters, bringing even more excitement to the league.
