Report: Huhi set to rejoin Golden Guardians for 2023

Huhi Reportedly Returning to Golden Guardians

The 100 Thieves roster shakeup continues as support player Huhi is rumored to be returning to Golden Guardians after two years, according to a report by TheGameHaus.

Huhi, one of the most consistent supports in the LCS in recent years, may be heading back to the organization that helped him join the 100 Thieves roster. The Golden Guardians core, including jungler Closer, mid laner Damonte, and AD carry FBI, were all purchased by 100 Thieves after a 2020 Summer playoff run that ended with a reverse sweep by eventual champions TSM.

Possible Replacement for Huhi

It is likely that highly-rated prospect Busio from 100 Thieves Academy will replace Huhi as the support player for the team.

Furthermore, rumors have circulated about potential offseason moves involving Doublelift, Bjergsen, and Spica. Travis Gafford speculated that if Doublelift were to return to the LCS, 100 Thieves would be the most likely destination for him. Additionally, former Team Liquid mid laner Bjergsen and disgruntled former TSM jungler Spica could also join 100 Thieves. The three players previously played together on the infamous 2020 LCS champion TSM roster.

Confident Run, Disappointing Results

The decision by 100 Thieves to keep their 2021 LCS Championship-winning roster intact was surprising. Typically, even winning teams make at least one change during the offseason. However, by the end of the past year, it became clear that the roster had reached its limit. Although the Thieves reached three consecutive LCS finals from Summer 2021 to Summer 2022, they also experienced the two quickest finals in the league’s history in each split.

At Worlds 2021, 100 Thieves faced tough competition in a challenging group that included top teams T1 and eventual champions EDward Gaming. They managed to achieve a respectable 3-3 record and even took a game off EDG. However, in 2022, 100 Thieves, along with every other LCS representative, struggled at the World Championship, finishing with a disappointing 1-5 record in their group on home soil.

Potential Departures

Jungler Closer and mid laner Abbedagge have reportedly been given the opportunity to explore other options for the 2023 season. This suggests that they may be leaving the team, following the departures of general manager PapaSmithy and head coach Reapered.
