Day 3: Reserve Strength
I woke up in the morning and noticed that the pigeons from yesterday were gone. Time to start our last day of preparation. We gathered in the training room, feeling nervous about our final day of rest, lunch, and getting ready for Worlds.
The Chinese teams are not in a good condition today, especially LGD’s players who are struggling with the local food. After teasing them yesterday, I decided to organize some Chinese food for them. TBQ said it felt like years since he last had rice.
Hopefully they can adjust quickly.
We will soon start our final preparation. After extensive discussion, we decided to use our substitute Toplaner, AmazingJ, for the opening game. Koro seems a bit lonely today.
However, he still stayed with the team for practice and discussion. Today’s practice was intense, with scrimmages against Taiwanese and Korean teams. There was a lot of discussion and suggestions after the games.
The players could feel the added intensity and the atmosphere backstage was serious. The training rooms of all the teams were closed. When we ran into each other, there was no casual gossip or chit chat, just a polite nod and farewell. We couldn’t imagine what kind of preparations were happening behind closed doors. After a year of hard work, tomorrow is the real test. Every match means more than a simple win or loss. The teams carry the expectations of management, their region’s reputation, and the hopes and dreams of the fans. Our players are anxious and working even harder during today’s practice. The dry weather at night made everyone’s eyes uncomfortable, but luckily I brought some stress-relief eye drops beforehand.
There are countless articles analyzing and predicting the results of the tournament. In my opinion, the groups with the most competition are A and D. Group A specifically has a tough fight between CLG, Koo, and the Flashwolves for the two qualifying spots. The Flashwolves have the ability to beat the other two teams. It’s hard to predict the outcome of this group. Group D is the most difficult group, with LGD needing to perform their best to have a chance to qualify. TSM is an experienced team, KT’s style counters LGD, and OG is a strong 3rd seed team led by Xpeke. The matches in Group D will be worth watching and analyzing. Group B may seem unpredictable, but iG’s overall strength is higher than the other teams. FNC and AHQ will compete for the remaining spot. If iG performs at their usual level, they have a good chance to top the group.
We are more familiar and organized with our preparations this time, thanks to our additions, AJ and Fireloli, who have lifted the team spirit in the training room.
Tomorrow is AmazingJ’s debut on the world stage. Hopefully, he can show his skills and help us win. Clearlove had a lot to say during today’s practice, while PawN silently trained, still recovering from his injury. Deft was moody, and Meiko was running around all day.
