An English broadcast for this year’s KeSPA Cup will not be available

No English Broadcast for 2019 KeSPA Cup, Disappointing News for Fans

League of Legends caster Max “Atlus” Anderson has confirmed that there won’t be an English broadcast of the 2019 KeSPA Cup. This news comes as a disappointment to many fans who were eagerly awaiting coverage of the event. Atlus also mentioned that restreaming the event from home is strictly forbidden, meaning that there won’t be any English coverage at all.

“Super disappointing to hear that KeSPA and Riot Korea have decided that the 2019 KeSPA Cup will have no English broadcast,” said Chris “PapaSmithy” Smith, the general manager of 100 Thieves and former LCK commentator. Smith expressed his frustration, stating that last year’s KeSPA Cup had massive viewership numbers and that the global fans who support Korean League of Legends deserve better.

The KeSPA Cup is a tournament that has been hosted in Korea since 2015. It features all 10 LCK teams, along with eight teams from Challengers Korea and its promotional qualifiers.

Last year, the KeSPA Cup was broadcast in English, providing a chance for fans to see the newest LCK rosters in action. It was an exciting opportunity to witness the changes made by big-name players who switched teams during the busy 2018 offseason. Unfortunately, English-speaking viewers won’t get to experience the same coverage this year.

Despite the disappointment, some individuals are still hoping for an English broadcast. T1 CEO Joe Marsh and Gen.G have even agreed to share the cost of English casters for the KeSPA Cup if it means that the broadcast can be allowed once again.

The 2019 KeSPA Cup is set to begin on Monday, December 23.
