League of Legends rises above Fortnite as Twitch’s most-watched game in 2019

League of Legends Reclaims Most-Watched Title on Twitch

In a year-end review, it has been confirmed that League of Legends has regained its position as the most-watched game on Twitch. According to StreamElements and stat tracker Arsenal.gg, the popular MOBA accumulated a staggering 990 million hours watched in 2019.

Last year, Fortnite dominated the streaming world by amassing an impressive one billion hours watched on Twitch. However, with the decline in popularity of Fortnite in 2019, coupled with popular streamer Ninja’s move to Mixer, the game’s viewership numbers dropped by 28 percent compared to the previous year.

Meanwhile, League of Legends continued to thrive, attracting new talent and introducing exciting new game modes such as Teamfight Tactics and Legends of Runeterra. Regional leagues, including Europe’s LEC, Korea’s LCK, and North America’s LCS, provided captivating storylines, leading to a seven percent increase in hours watched for the game.

With the release of new champions, new teams, and upcoming League-based games in 2020, League of Legends shows no signs of slowing down on Twitch.
